Thank You Edmonton!

The 2011 Edmonton Comedy Festival is done and what a great week of shows it was!

Comedians from all over North America converged on Edmonton in a celebration of comedy in all its forms.

Our Homecoming Gala with Joe Flaherty was a huge hit and included a special appearance by Paul Lorieau who belted out Oh Canada before 8 Alberta headliners took the stage including our own Andrew Grose.

Galas with Gerry Dee and Mike Bullard played to sold out crowds at The Citadel Theatre. Our cabaret venues like 4 Points by Sheraton, Northlands Park and The Westin packed them in to see the likes of John Wing, Monique Marvez, Big Daddy Tazz and Atomic Improv.

Out in St. Albert the Kinsmen Korral saw performers like The Unknown Comic, Debra DiGiovanni, and Rondell Sheridan rock the house. While too many to mention, our comedians loved the city of Edmonton and declared the festival to be a huge success. The question being asked now is not "Will there be another?" but rather "How are you guys going to top this?"

Plans for the 2nd Annual Edmonton Comedy Festival are already underway for October of 2012.

We are reaching out to more comedians from around the world to come join us next year and we'll be bringing back some of your favourites from this year to appear in a "Best of the Fest" gala. We are also looking to add venues to bring laughter to every corner of the city in 2012 and possibly the surrounding area such as Sherwood Park.

We'll also be addressing your suggestions for streamlining the ticket purchase and pick-up process and possibly introducing a festival pass program. In cooperation with our title sponsor, ATB Financial, we would like to offer discounts for advance ticket purchases when our tickets go on sale again in the fall of 2012.

Check back here to see all of our plans as the next festival comes together including new performers, new venues, and ways to volunteer to be part of next year's festival.

Until then the organizers would like to thank our performers, our sponsors, our partners and especially you Edmonton for making the 1st Annual Edmonton Comedy Festival such a major success.
