Message from Andrew Grose
This year we put together an unforgettable gala series featuring 6 talent packed shows at the ATB Financial Arts Barns starring Maryellen Hooper, Mitch Fatel, Rondell Sheridan, Andrew Grose, Kristeen Von Hagen and Alingon Mitra. Their combined credits included dozens of National television credits and thousands of festivals.
We encouraged our audiences to “Tweet from their seat” to win terrific prizes during the intermission like Edmonton Comedy Festival shirts, hoodies and tickets. Our Twitter and Facebook accounts blew up… our audiences definitely like social media.
Our cabaret series shows at Four Points by Sheraton and our Comedy on Whyte series at the Varscona Hotel were a massive, but not unexpected, success. You got to decide who you’d like to see, when and where you’d like to see them and there was a show that was just perfect for you.
We brought comedy back to St. Albert with the help of the St. Albert Kinsmen. The Komedy Korral at the St. Albert Kinsmen Banquet Centre saw some of our top comics making the trip out to the burbs.
For fans of new talent we once again presented “The Young Guns Comedy Competition” featuring 27 area amateurs that all competed over 4 weeks at The Ranch Roadhouse for amazing prizes and an opportunity to perform on one of our big stages.
Back by popular demand was the “Funniest Media Person Competition” featuring your favorite radio, television, print and internet personalities competing for bragging rights and their favorite charity. There were some unforgettable moments that night.
For our tiny comedy fans we presented a sold out Saturday morning kids show and for those wanting to learn what the professionals do we offered free improv and stand-up classes taught by some of our professional acts.
No matter how you got involved in the Edmonton Comedy Festival presented by ATB Financial it was appreciated. Our performers, our sponsors, our volunteers, our staff and, of course, our customers all came together for our most successful year ever.
Enjoy our various galleries and feel free to contact us anytime with your suggestions for future festivals because this is, after all, your festival and not ours.
We look forward to bringing it to you again in October of 2015.
